Good morning folks! Hope you're all well, or for those poorly that you're feeling better today.
@budelee check in as soon as you can mate, we like to make sure you've still got your feet on the ground and not done a Dorothy LOL.
For any cat-owned people out there, yesterday/last night was the first night of training for my 11 year old boy. He was getting me up 5 or 6 times a night for a few biscuits or a drink, or some attention. We can't leave food down for him overnight because we don't want a roach invasion (sub-tropical island paradise *rolls eyes*). Well yesterday I stopped free feeding him and we've gone over to fixed meal times. His last meal was at 8:30pm and we went to bed soon after. We left water down for him for the first time in ages, protected by a moat of soapy water in the event of unwanted visitors. He tried his usual tactics of scratching at the door but we completely ignored him. However if he jumped onto the bed and got right in my face he got a brief fuss for reassurance then settled down to sleep. Early in the night he knocked everything off hubby's nightstand. Then, a few minutes later, he did the same to mine. So everything ended up on the floor LOL, but luckily he didn't break my glasses.
Still, I count it as a success as I didn't have to get out of bed except to use the bathroom. I can deal with a cat in the face, I can sympathise with him being unsettled. He doesn't like there being people upstairs any more than I do! He wasn't like this when we first came out.
All the stuff on the internet says play with your cat prior to mealtime so they burn off calories. It doesn't tell you what to do if you have an older slightly-arthritic lad who'd rather sleep most of the time and has a playful five minutes maybe ONCE over the course of the day! However a short walk on harness and lead and a good brushing session seem to help.
So onwards and upwards!
In other news Waira diagnosed my problem plant as being an atypical calcium deficiency and showed me pics of another plant which did the same. So treatment has been administered and now time will tell!
Have a fab day everyone!
