Photoperiod Barneys Farm - Peyote Crit/Watermelon Zkittles/Mimosa X Orange Punch

Just a quick update, went in right before the lights came on, smell tends to be a little stronger when the lights are off I feel. The smell is intoxicating by itself, sour berry watermelon aroma, with a distinctive mimosa or fizzy orange juice note in there.
Yes you are correct. The smell is almost always strongest right before lights come back on, when it's been dark the longest.

Dude it's fine, the buds look super proper and that's all that matters! It sucks that when a leaf gets damaged, it never heals, but whatever. I think you did an awesome job, especially considering they are cultivars that you have no prior experience with! Damaged leaves, Schmamaged schmeaves hahaha. They got a little ways to go but they should still put on some weight and turn pistils soon!

Thanks. I have grown all 3 before though. The peyote critical always turns out good. The watermelon zkittles looks exactly like it did the last time I grew it, and I fed it way less than last time. The Mimosa turned out better last time too. Actually I grew the mimosa in my last grow. Completely different pheno. But it also grew pretty well, had some nutrient burn but not like this. This has happened every grow. Where half or more of my plants start looking like this and one is healthy. Part of the reason I wanna go full organic with living soil. Let the plant and microbes sort out feeding, as long as the food is there. Though I think I have enough nutes to get through 1 more grow, so I may just use the main 3 on my next grow and then make the switch.

Was bored this morning so I took some pics.

The pic where Im showing a whole branch on the peyote critical is exactly how every branch is. Then its just some pics of the best looking buds imo

That pinkish leaf in the center of the overhead shot is my favorite color that comes out. It always seems to happen super late in flower

A lot of the lower buds on the mimosa are LARF but otherwise everything on the watermelon is smaller than before but dense like a rock, and purple has worked its way into everything in direct light on all 3 plants. There's some lower larfy stuff on the peyote but not much, and basically 0 larfy buds on the watermelon. Besides the crispy leaves I'm very pleased with how its turning out.

Also the peyote is prone to fox tailing and I think its starting to. Theres a few brand new pistils poking out on most of the main colas, they are sporadically spread on the buds.

Flower (End of week 8) New
So I think I forgot to make a end of week 7 post and this will be 2 days early for the end of week 8.

I uploaded pics yesterday so Im not doing anything picture wise with this post. Wednesday will mark the end of week 8 which is 56 days in flower. The watermelon is pretty much there. Everything's pretty cloudy, theres a few amber trichs left pistils are all starting to turn orange and recede. Mimosa is definitely the straggler here. She still has a ton of white pistils and a good chunk of clear trichs. Hoping by the end of the week more become mature because no matter what Im chopping her. The other 2 will be pretty much in the peak harvest window, and Im not gonna sacrifice a good dry for a couple extra days on one plant. Plus I wanna work on getting my next grow together. I have some thoughts on that too, Ill get to those later in the post. So Im thinking either Saturday evening or Sunday morning will be the chop day that will push these all about a week past the reccomended window. I will be hang drying the whole plant and trying to keep the basement at about 65°F and 60% humidity. Going to close off all the vents in my house besides the bedroom to funnel all the ac down stairs. Should keep the basement pretty cool.

Now my thoughts on my next grow. I know I said I wanted to do strawberry cough and slurricane ##7s1 but I think what Im gonna do is just do an all In house genetics run as follows

2 Slurricane Nu.7 s1
2 Forbidden Jelly

It'll be a tight fit but I think it would be interesting to see these 2 side by side, both are deep purple strains that lean on the sativa side. And both throw out some insanely frosty aromatic buds. Not to mention Im still getting asked about that fruity pebble like strain which is Forbidden jelly, and I could go for more of it.

Chop day New
So the day has come. Im at work right now so Im just prepping the post for later so I can come back in and add pics later.

Im chopping today because trichs on the peyote critical are starting to amber. Probably at around 5% right now. No clear the rest cloudy. The trichs on the watermelon zkittles are mostly cloudy. I spotted a couple amber here and there. Like 5-8% are clear still. And its a little early on the mimosa, she could go another week but my grow space is my dry space so they're all coming down today.

Got all the registers upstairs closed off and the basement vent wide open, its about 67 down there and the humidity is at around 55% but will be bumping that up to 60% after the chop. Also gonna try running temp amd humidity thresholds on the exhaust controller this time to see if it helps slow the dry time.

Edit:

Alright, wasn't feeling the greatest Saturday night or Sunday but I went down and took a couple pics. Just a couple branches from the peyote and a couple shots of the full tent.

Of course they didn't add in the order I wanted them to. But needless to say they are drying. Current conditions 69.8°F and 58% humidity. My dehumidifier only goes in 5% increments amd the humidity is around +/-10% from where its set. I was thinking about buying a humidifier for the tent specifically for drying but I opted out. Maybe next time I will run both a humidifier and dehumidifier to keep things a little more stable.

A note, yesterday about 24 hours after the chop it seems like a lot of the buds on the mimosa have softened up. I know this happens as they dry, but like I mean from almost like a rock to a sponge. I was worried about that and the 2 branches showing the polyploid traits.....seems like a lot of vegetation and not so much bud at all. There's no pistils that I can see anywhere but on the very top of the buds. Those are still pretty solid though so there something there. We'll get to see how much bud is on each of thos after trim. Hoping to see about 1/2 a pound in total weight. Fingers crossed.

No pics in thus update.

The dry is going very well as far as I can tell 5 days in now and normally I'd be getting ready to trim. Not this time. Im definitely using the threshold feature for drying next time. With the way things are going I might not be trimming till Saturday or Sunday.

So I think I figured out why my feeding gets so out of whack after about 2 months, Im starting to wonder if Im keeping my ph probe stored improperly. According to apera if you use it regularly you just need a drop of tap water in the cap to keep the bulb moist. Im thinking I might just start storing in kcl solution all the time. I recalibrate once every 14 days, just to make sure that Im as accurate as possible but for the last 5 or so my high point 10.01 never gets close, usually stabilizes at 8.9 to 9.4 and I think that's because my probe is already damaged, or maybe the calibration fluid went bad. The other 2, 7 and 4 always stabilize within .3 or .4 but the other is ALWAYS way off and I think that's messing up my readings and making everything slightly more acidic than I think it is.

Edit:

After doing what feels like a fuck ton of research. I figured it out, I think its a combo of a slightly dirty probe, and my 10.01 calibration fluid is expired. Even calibrating 2 point the 10.01 reads no higher than 8.8. So thinking that my probe was reading right, and it was that far out of calibration I set that ph as the high set point the last 4 calibrations. According to some of the formulas I found just that one set point being off that much causes things to read far more acidic then they actually are. Also the further you are from that set point when testing, say a more acidic solution like nutes the further off it will be. I plugged some numbers into a fancy calculator that I found and with the low set point and neutral being spot on and the high being 8.5, a solution reading 6.5, is actually a lot closer to 7.5. So there lies the problem, from now on since I know my 2 point calibration will be accurate I will only be using 2 point calibration.
I've had such varying results with both cheap and expensive ph meters. Now all I use is the standard liquid test. It's faster, cheaper, more accurate and always works like it should. The general hydroponics brand bottle(10$) lasts me about 18-24months, way cheaper than meters and calibration fluid and all that. I've also built a nutrient regimen from a handful of manufacturers that works with my local water source to where I haven't used any phone up or down in over a year. I have a recipe for each stage of growth that is complete and phs itself right to where I need it. Keep In mind I'm in soil, if I was in hydro I would rely on those fluids to keep my reservoir stabilized, but because I water run off to waste it's a non issue

Complete New
So unfortunately this grow is over, I broke my phone so I have no pics of anything regarding finished trim or dry weights. I posted a pic of the peyote dry weight in stoner chat so I'll have to see if I can go back and dl that Pic from stoner chat and re-upload it on here.

Long story short my phone got pancaked by my machine at work. Fell out of my hand between 2 rollers and the only way to recover the data is to pay and arm and a leg to have someone de-solder the SSD and hook it up to a computer and retrieve data manually which I'm not doing. Was quoted 250 bucks. With the insurance deductible and that I could just pay the phone off.
