Completed Barneys Farm - Peyote Crit/Watermelon Zkittles/Mimosa X Orange Punch

Flower (end of week 2)
  • Dropped the net today. Gotta water again, 2 days in a row. I think that's partially due to me running the dehumidifier at 45% to keep the tent within the 50% rh range. I did follow some advice and I didn't water to runoff, technically, it did drip a little bit out each but the saucers are already dried up. Which normally takes a couple days with my old watering routine.

Anyway here's a pic, I almost wondering if I should have forgone the net. I think I spread my plants a little too much with lst wire for the net to be very effective at opening the plants up more. Got each main branch into its own little square. Some had to be pulled to the outside of the net because it bows in so much around the edges but its down and doing it's job. Its mainly for secondary branches anyway.

  • Had to water today. 1 gallon each of plain spring water with yucca pH to 6.45.

Stretch is over, plants are no longer producing any new leaves and we are rolling into bud production.

Over all plants are doing pretty well. Some minor problems here or there, but nothing Im concerning myself with. Let the soil dry out a bit too much. Pots were light as air today but no droopieness so all good. Noticing that the watermelon zkittles, even with yucca is still taking forever for the first bit of water to sink into the pot. Noticed that the last couple times so I even added an extra tsp of sledgehammer to each gallon. Still sat on the surface for about 15-20 seconds while slowly sinking in. Other 2, the water just runs right in. Not worried plant seems fine just a note.

Tried to get some good pics of bracts and stuff but Im too shaky to do it today. Kept coming out blurry and pretty indistinguishable. Theres multiple pistils coming out of all the preflower bracts and the tops all have pistils spilling out too. Its definitely a nice sight to see after not growing for a year. Gotta love it.

    Thats all for today.

    Flowering (end of week 4)
  • Forgot to make this post on Wednesday, but it was day 28 of flower.

Seems like everything is going well. Battling calcium deficiency/lock out again. Magnesium isn't helping much at all. Did a foliar spray last week and added a total of a tsp of epsom salt to my water over the last 4 waterings. I took it slower this time because I wanted to see if this issue was the same as before, its not. Because Im watering almost daily now, and the rust spots are still progressing, tops were all yellowing but are starting to green back up so I thought it was like last time where Magnesium got locked out from an abundance of calcium so it couldn't take up either. But so far the green is coming back but the rust spots on older leaves are still coming in every day. Only thing is its only a few leaves scattered around the plant on both the mimosa and watermelon. So I did a slurry test on both plants soil yesterday before work, came in at 6.58ph so my soil isn't out of whack. Im thinking maybe I just dialed up my lights too much too fast and it couldn't process nutrients fast enough. With the dehumidifier the plants are transpiring faster than they ever have before and I think this is what caused my imbalance. And sure enough. After I bumped up the dehumidifier by 5% they started slowing down with the transpiration, and the progression of rust spots has slowed but not halted. Its only been 2 days since I raised the humidity slightly so we'll see how the next week plays out.

Other than those 2 plants the Peyote Critical is taking all this abuse like a damn Rockstar. Slight burned tips on older leaves but other than that the girl is just enjoying being alive. I almost think its impossible to screw up this strain nutrient wise unless you have no clues how to feed plants.

    Flower (end of week 5)
  • Another week down. As I mentioned problems all over. It is what it is. The watermelon seems to be bouncing back a bit. Dead spots still popping up. But there seems to be a lot more deep green. The Mimosa......I cant decide if its trying to change color or if its just getting worse and honestly I think its a little of both. It does turn purple red and orange in some of the stock pics, but dead spots are still popping up everywhere on her.

Been giving them plain water the last few days. Well as plain as my spring water can be. I think after the last of my happy frog is used up, which will be the next grow, Im gonna try giving organics a go. My local stores are overflowing with the stuff plus I wanna try out purple cows indicanja out. Im skeptical about it because it says its got everything you need from seed to harvest but theres no info about what's actually in the stuff so Im gonna go look at it because they have pallets of the stuff right down the road. I doubt it will take a plant fully from seed to harvest but Im really warming up to the idea of just watering and maybe top dressing once or twice a cycle and letting the microbes and the plants worry about feeding eachother. So far I've seen pretty much a similar version of everything organic on here and scattered around the internet organics-wise in my gardening store in town.

Anyway here's some pics. If they don't all load Ill reload this post later, I dont like using my company wifi to upload, and I get shit service at work.

    Flower (end of week 6)
  • So another week down. Figured out that its kinda pointless to use 10.01 calibration fluid because as soon as you open the bottle you have about a week before the ph shifts so much it can no longer be used as a calibration fluid. 2 point from now on as the neutral and low points are much more shelf stable and last exponentially longer than base calibration solutions.

With that said the watermelon as expected is getting worse. The Mimosa is too at a much slower rate. Peyote critical must have been thirsty yesterday, I heafted the pot before leaving for work and going in today it was so bone dry the whole plant was wilted. She bounced back already and I gave my girls probably their last feeds till harvest. I got about 2.5 weeks to breeder reccomended harvest window, but I know Im gonna run longer as all 3 of these strains haven't even had pistils starting to receed except where I've bumped buds moving stuff around to check the plants out. Trichs are barely starting to cloud up so Im thinking 4 more weeks. Which is what all 3 of these strains did the last time I grew them, about 2 weeks longer than breeder reccomended.

Got some pics but goddamn is the watermelon ugly! Pics are the whole tent amd each main colas on the peyote since that's the girl Im most proud of. She is starting to turn purple and is truely a gorgeous plant when she's fully made the flip. If you look at my previous journal where I grew 2 of them and watermelon skittles. The buds that come off these girls are just 😍🤩😍🤩

Anyway that's all I got for today.

    Flower (End of week 8)
  • So I think I forgot to make a end of week 7 post and this will be 2 days early for the end of week 8.

I uploaded pics yesterday so Im not doing anything picture wise with this post. Wednesday will mark the end of week 8 which is 56 days in flower. The watermelon is pretty much there. Everything's pretty cloudy, theres a few amber trichs left pistils are all starting to turn orange and recede. Mimosa is definitely the straggler here. She still has a ton of white pistils and a good chunk of clear trichs. Hoping by the end of the week more become mature because no matter what Im chopping her. The other 2 will be pretty much in the peak harvest window, and Im not gonna sacrifice a good dry for a couple extra days on one plant. Plus I wanna work on getting my next grow together. I have some thoughts on that too, Ill get to those later in the post. So Im thinking either Saturday evening or Sunday morning will be the chop day that will push these all about a week past the reccomended window. I will be hang drying the whole plant and trying to keep the basement at about 65°F and 60% humidity. Going to close off all the vents in my house besides the bedroom to funnel all the ac down stairs. Should keep the basement pretty cool.

Now my thoughts on my next grow. I know I said I wanted to do strawberry cough and slurricane ##7s1 but I think what Im gonna do is just do an all In house genetics run as follows

    2 Slurricane Nu.7 s1
    2 Forbidden Jelly

It'll be a tight fit but I think it would be interesting to see these 2 side by side, both are deep purple strains that lean on the sativa side. And both throw out some insanely frosty aromatic buds. Not to mention Im still getting asked about that fruity pebble like strain which is Forbidden jelly, and I could go for more of it.

    Chop day
  • So the day has come. Im at work right now so Im just prepping the post for later so I can come back in and add pics later.

Im chopping today because trichs on the peyote critical are starting to amber. Probably at around 5% right now. No clear the rest cloudy. The trichs on the watermelon zkittles are mostly cloudy. I spotted a couple amber here and there. Like 5-8% are clear still. And its a little early on the mimosa, she could go another week but my grow space is my dry space so they're all coming down today.

Got all the registers upstairs closed off and the basement vent wide open, its about 67 down there and the humidity is at around 55% but will be bumping that up to 60% after the chop. Also gonna try running temp amd humidity thresholds on the exhaust controller this time to see if it helps slow the dry time.

    Edit:

Alright, wasn't feeling the greatest Saturday night or Sunday but I went down and took a couple pics. Just a couple branches from the peyote and a couple shots of the full tent.

Of course they didn't add in the order I wanted them to. But needless to say they are drying. Current conditions 69.8°F and 58% humidity. My dehumidifier only goes in 5% increments amd the humidity is around +/-10% from where its set. I was thinking about buying a humidifier for the tent specifically for drying but I opted out. Maybe next time I will run both a humidifier and dehumidifier to keep things a little more stable.

A note, yesterday about 24 hours after the chop it seems like a lot of the buds on the mimosa have softened up. I know this happens as they dry, but like I mean from almost like a rock to a sponge. I was worried about that and the 2 branches showing the polyploid traits.....seems like a lot of vegetation and not so much bud at all. There's no pistils that I can see anywhere but on the very top of the buds. Those are still pretty solid though so there something there. We'll get to see how much bud is on each of thos after trim. Hoping to see about 1/2 a pound in total weight. Fingers crossed.

    Complete New
  • So unfortunately this grow is over, I broke my phone so I have no pics of anything regarding finished trim or dry weights. I posted a pic of the peyote dry weight in stoner chat so I'll have to see if I can go back and dl that Pic from stoner chat and re-upload it on here.

Long story short my phone got pancaked by my machine at work. Fell out of my hand between 2 rollers and the only way to recover the data is to pay and arm and a leg to have someone de-solder the SSD and hook it up to a computer and retrieve data manually which I'm not doing. Was quoted 250 bucks. With the insurance deductible and that I could just pay the phone off.
