Hello, I currently have 2 plants right now using sunlight when available, 10 days old I also have been using 2 60 watt daylight fluorescents 6500k and was told this would be ok for the veg phase. I started looking into lighting for the flowering phase, I found 42w. 150watt 2700k cfl's would these be ok for flowering? I was thinking of buying 4, and does moving from sunshine to under lights cause any harm. Thanks

ya man the 2700k cfl bulb's are what you are supposed to switch to for the flowering stage. Its more of a yellow color and use the 6500k bulbs for veg as it promoted shorter nodes and bushier plants. I use a combo of 4800k and 6500k bulbs while my plants are in veg and I found that it works better than just using the 6500k bulbs. Better light spectrum for the plants during veg and I think that combo simulates the sun the best as far as cfl's go. Use as many of the 2700k bulbs during flower. My set up is a small cab 3 x 3 x 3,1/2 ft and use two of those 4 bulb vanity light strips with light socket splitters to allow me to use up to 16 bulbs if the temps are nice outside. Find that it gets kinda hot in there during the hot days as it regularly stays at 84 - 92 deg F. While its hot outside it has gotten up to 98 deg F and have to keep my door open most of the on cycle. hope this helps Grow on and good luck

The lights you have chosen for flowering are fit for purpose.

Moving from sunshine to lighting doesn't cause any harm.

Your plant can be very close to a CFL as the surface heat is low so the plant won't burn.

A good rule is use the back of your hand and find a comfortable distance where the heat is felt just a little, and that is the optimum distance for your plant.

I grow my plants around my bulb, keeping them about an inch away, my bulb is a 250W.

All the best,

nibs.
