Mephisto Genetics Chemdogging, Sour Livers, Fantasmo Express in RDWC

DAY 38
Nutrient 1.8 EC; 21/22C; pH 6.0
Environment: Day 27C RH 65%; Night 22C RH 70%

Gave the late-starter Chemdogging plant (CD6) her first major flower phase defoliation. I went in quite heavy but she will bounce back, I'm sure.

Try to get that humidity down to <60%. The stomata (breathing ports) on the leaves begin to close above 60% or below 40%. If the stomata close the plant stops respiring and taking up water and nutrients. A lot of Cal-Mag and other deficiencies are caused by this. The nutrients are in the root zone but cannot get in to the plant.

Really appreciate your learned input @Mañ'O'Green :thanks:
I knew the humidity was high but according to my VPD chart it's ok at 27C & 65% RH? I have a dehumidifier ready to go but don't want to add more heat to my room/tent. I will definitely be bringing the RH down later on in flower to keep mould.bud rot at bay.

I have used VPD as well but have been hearing a different story from Harley Smith in his Master Gardener Course. So the saga continues as there are so many theories for indoor growing. I cannot keep my humidity in control a large portion of the year. I wish I could afford to build a true grow space with all the bells and whistles. Just a dream at this point in my life.

It's a never-ending journey! We've just had a very humid spell but it has passed (yesterday) and now should see typical Autumn UK weather. I'm definitely going to use my dehumidifier to try and stay under 50% when the colas start building up

Totally agree with you - my dream set-up is also a sealed environment with 100% control of the variables. Maybe one day...

very quick & dirty update: CD6 is looking great after a heavy defoliation yesterday:

Youve got a forest in there!
On average.....how long do ya spend a day taking care of the plants?

Hi dude - not as long as I should! I check pH and EC every morning (a few minutes or 10/20 minutes if I need to adjust) and then at this stage in the cycle I do some light defoliation every other day (about 10 - 20 minutes). At the start of flower I did a heavy defoliation on all plants which took about 90 minutes.

As well as taking care of them I spend quite a lot of time just looking at the plants and generally admiring them!!

DAY 41
Nutrient 1.8 EC; 21/22C; pH 6.0
Environment: Day 27C RH 63%; Night 21C RH 75%

Started with Shogun PK Warrior today @ 0.5ml/l
RH is crazy high during lights-off so I have placed my dehumidifier in the tent (it just fits between the DWC pots). The problem is, it raises the temperature by at least 3C so I have timed it to come on for the 4 hour period when the lights are off. Later on in flower I might run it during lights-on, to keep RH below 50% but that will mean in-tent temperatures of 30C. It's a balancing act between RH and temperature.

Here are some pics from the tent today:
