I've been told putting a layer of sand over the tops of the soil will keep them from coming out, and they die. Sounds like a cheap option to me.

I am going to add some soil grows to my room, and I'm already working on the soil, I think I'll bring it into my basement and let it sit for a month and compost etc, fill up on micro life, and then bring it in the grow room. Thanks for the heads up.

It also has been suggested not to use airpots as the little bastards will go through the holes in the pot if you bloke off the surface with sand . I know that's true as I observed it first hand .

sadly non of them were my efforts lol. my old mans gonna wake up to something similar if i get any snow though. havent quite decided what but im definately gonna bastardise his car :smoking:

yeah thats why i like hydro mate. havent seen a single bug in 3 grows. most insecticides are safe to use and non systemic in soil. no good for coco etc though.
if youd rather avoid chemicals its diatamacious earth for the pot and.... hmm... neem oil i think for the plant.

can put diatamacilus earth round those wee holes aswell mate.its surprisingly effective stuff like. even works against bed bugs and theyre nigh on impossible to kill.

I was banned from recommending non-organics by Waira himself. And for good reasons, but that's in the infirmary.

NEEM works well on contact, and when the bugs eat the tissue that has been sprayed. It is best as a preventative.

Permethrin... that is the heavy duty stuff. I use it every year, non toxic for humans, dogs, and most mammals, but IS toxic to cats or fish for some reason. It always keep a bottle around, I used to get rid of peach tree borers last year. I also spray it on new construction projects. It will live in the wood and prevent termites for up to 10 years or so. It does NOT persist in soil, it gets broken down by soil bacteria.

Those pots have 300 holes per pot I don't have the time to fill 2400 holes on 8 pots

ive been thinking about doing some wee coco pots as id be able to use the same nutes. only thing stopping me is figuring out how to full proof beastie bust em. the thought of an infestation terrifies me. saw my mate lose a crop to whitefly last year it was fuckin savage.

In Canada neem is not allowed to be imported or advertised as an insecticide but you can by it to be used in women's makeup . Go figure !!

Here in Canada it's too dam cold to even think about snow sculpture the snow won't pack .
