Couple of pics of what the Girls looked like prior to chopping. They are in their 12th week. Happy Frog w/ Nirvana's Soil/Flower Tabs; one gallon SmartPots. Flushed them for 10 days before I cut them down.

These plants were damaged in the 5th week. The cfl light slipped and burned the tops. Before I found out they were toast. Rebounded nicely.

Traditional Drying Method (mine anyway)

Harvest NL#1 and SR# 13 Weeks 005.jpgHarvest NL#1 and SR# 13 Weeks 004.jpgHarvest NL#1 and SR# 13 Weeks 006.jpg

Cut whole plant off at the base after I trimmed all the larger fan/sugar leaves.
The RH will be 50% to 60% with the inside temp @ 65F-70F. Drying time should be minimum of 7-10 days. The stems will have a nice soft snap when they're ready for curing.

These pictures were taken just as they went into the closet. They've been drying now for three days. I'll post more current photos later.

I personally like the smaller sugar leaves left on when they are drying. I think it helps dry the buds slower. I'll trim them later just before curing.

The small fan has been moved much lower than in the picture. The fan is not blowing on the plants. All the fans are on low. Just a slight breeze.

Beautiful nl, I got one about 4 days away from chop chop! Nice job BayLee.

Ok sorry to intrude but this is actually covering a problem I had last drying. Ok I have a normal 20% to 35% in my house and I kept them in a box upside down I my bedroom, they were crispy critters in three days. I put them in jars with a wet peice of napkin to bring them back enough to cure them. I saw your humidifier but didnt click till I went over this post a couple times now. I have a mini humidifier maybe that would help me this time. Any idea how I can utilize this? Maybe in room with box just kept open in a corner so theres no light??

The problem we all have in drying our weed in the winter is the lack of humidity in the air. When it's cold out @ 32F and below there is a lack of RH. No real water moisture below freezing. You need to keep your drying room above 50% RH. Actually 60% and above is ideal. A small humidifier is an ideal way of keep the drying room at the correct RH. The weed needs to dry S-L-O-W-L-Y. The Drying room needs to have a higher RH to keep the buds moisture released very slowly. A room RH below 50% will cause the buds to dry too quickly. The drying room needs to have moisture. RH at 50% means that the rooms air moisture content is 50% saturated. More moisture; 55% and above means there is more moisture than dry air by 5% etc. Keep the Dry Rooms air saturated at 50% and above.

A slice of apple or lemon/orange slice placed in the curing jar will help bring moisture back. Once the buds dry too fast; they're is going to smell and taste like hay. You can get some improvement in moisture, but it's real tough getting rid of the "Hay" smell.

A humidifier is essential this time of year to get the RH in your grow room and your house for that matter at a comfortable level.

Your skin dries out with the lack of RH. It's not good for buds either. Weed is like us. We like to be comfortable. We like our homes at 65F-75F; RH @ 45%-50%; cool air circulation and plenty of sun light. Drying weed at the correct RH and Temp is really just as important as the weed growing at the correct RH and Temp.

Best of luck.

Day Six

Day 6 NL-RS Drying 004.jpgDay 6 NL-RS Drying 003.jpgDay 6 NL-RS Drying 001.jpg

Trying to keep RH above 55%. At night the RH is @65%. The buds are drying nice and slow. They have a nice sweet, fruity smell. The stems are still rather soft still. Now I have to watch them carefully. Although the outside of the buds feel dry. The insides are still moist. Another few days and they'll be jarred and cured for a minimum of two weeks.

Bgrow ... when I'm dealing w/ low humidity I use a box that I can restrict airflow inside of ... I place the same Hygrometer inside the box that I put inside the jars and then I close it up, letting a controlled amount of air enter the box to maintain an rh in the box of 50-60% ... my initial dry is generally done in 3-6 days ... depending on the size of the harvest you can also use a closet w/ a partially closed door ... once the buds are at 62% I jar them & keep them at 62% w/ large sized Boveda packs inside the jars and burping daily. Nice harvest BayLee.

Gonna let them dry for another day or two. That would be a good week's worth of hanging. I've done the paper bag method, but I find that the hanging method is easier to control. The taste of the buds is better too.

Just made some cannabutter from the Short Rider. In fact it's on the stove now.

1/2 ounce of Ground Short Rider to 1/2 LB of butter. I clarify (Ghee) the better 1st. Let the butter simmer and skim off the milk solids. This makes a better cooking butter. Since the milk solids are removed the butter will not burn when you plan to cook with it. Once the butter is melted add the cannabis and two cups of water. Make sure the cannabis has at least 1/2 inch from the bottom of the pan. Bring to a slow simmer. Turn down temp so there is just small bubbles coming up. It should look like seltzer water's bubbles. Let it simmer for a minimum of three hours. Strain and cool. Put in refrigerator and let it set. Drain off water and enjoy.
