Evening gentlemen. I am wondering when i can start lowering my LEDs. I have the stealth grow sg602. there website specifies:

Babies and teenagers: 3-4' above canopy
Mature Vegetative plants: (plant height 18" and taller) 2-3' above canopy
Flowering plants: 6-18" above canopy

Im growing THink Different strain from dutch passion. My question is . .. .. . when are these considered Mature vegetative plants? when can i lower these lights? my girls are at 14 days effectively.

any help is greatly appreciated

That's one expensive light. O___O $1500 for an LED, by golly I damn near fell on the floor..

It says right there, " 18" and taller " before you lower it.. the reason the light has to be so high is because it uses 120 degree lenses... if you lower it, it reduces the area of coverage.. You can play with it a bit, I'd say 3-4 feet above canopy is obnoxious to be honest, I'd bring it down to 24" above the canopy once the plants have 2-3 sets of leaves. Keep an eye out for bleaching.. which I really don't think will happen at 2 feet and 120 degree lenses.

I take back the 120 degree lens statement as there's also a search result that says 90 degree lenses. Hmm. Either way, 24" is plenty high off of two week old plants and should not cause bleaching. Although looking at your journal on that site, there is no real stretching going on either.. is there your first autoflower grow?

You're feeding a lot of nutes to young plants, alot.. Also, defoliating is often advised against in autoflowers as they have a set start-finish time and if they put effort into new leaves vertical growth will stop. Over fertilization will stress plants as well.. so I donno if it's the light or everything that's going on in your grow that's reducing stretch. Hopefully some one else can chime in and help.

The girls show no sign of overfeeding. Im using drain to waste in coco. If i start seeing curling, yellowing or spotting ill dial it down a bit. I forgot why i clipped Casandra 1st tier leaves off but i can already see i stunted her a little. she was the oldest and is now behind the 3rd tier to Betty. But not too bad. im going to drop the lights about 6-8 inches and watch for signs of bleaching. I spoke with seymore-buds and he says he puts his LED @ 32 inches and just lets the plants grow up to them.

Ohh i see the website says 18'' but i didnt think that applied to auto's at 18'' the girls will probably already be in flower :)

I haven't checked in on seymour lately, but is he still running HGL lights? The thing is, all lights are made differently.. different lenses(angle, magnification), different watts per diode, different drivers. :2cents:
You have a LED that's not highly documented, so you're going to be the pioneer in testing these things really. There's maybe one documented grow journal out there using this light..

The height doesn't make a difference whether it's photo or auto brother, once you have 2-3 sets of leaves the higher the light is - the more the plant will stretch and create more gaps between the nodes, the lower the light is the more the plant will bush out.

I understand Coco and DTW, but believe it or not those aren't all of the signs of over ferting.. ;) Like you said though, they look good so let's mess with the light first before we mess with changing the fert program.

Why don't you bring the journal to the site here? It'd be really nice to have a documented grow on a new light here... we'd appreciate it as well. :)

Hmmn, your right ... this is the optimal setting for a diary. There is no real easy way of transferring the data that already exists. i suppose i can summarize the facts so its easy on the eyes.

Should i make a new thread?
