Lighting LED only thread (the manual)

That light sounds perfect dude I've seen a few great PC grows using a small UFO.

Hi Mate

That sounds great, thanks for that. May I ask what you would recommend for a light cycle? If I was using CFL I was planning 20/4 for veg and 18/6 or 12/12 for flowering. Also another quick question if I may, will I need to change any of the lights physically once she's into the flowering stage? Or should I be fine to use it the whole way through?

Again appreciate your input mate :smokebuds:

An interesting read indeed J Tang. Since breaking my cfl the other day which I used for seedlings-growth, I have been looking into 90w 1W chip lighthouse HO led veg/clone. more blue/white vs. red then my BS aswell as the 1W value to it. No need for penetration power:hump: when there's only 4 leaves.
-----------
Cooincidently Cozmictraveller, this is to avoid using my 135W 3W chip BlackStar Lighthouse UV to start as it is quite powerful and can bleach early life and leaves to point of drying up and die if too close, I had to cut up my shelves to allow for some more hight. Get to test it on seedlings soon But the 135W is a Very nice allround light and once the plants have afew sets of leaves going its all good from there, would still pick it over its older version 100W. Goodluck with your comp case grow:smokebuds:

EDIT: There is no adjusting on the 135W blackstar. plug and go!

I run mine at 20/4 all the way through, there is no need to go 12/12 if your growing autos. 20/4 and 18/6 are the most popular light cycles. Your UFO is full spectrum so it's good from seed to weed.

mr tang is on the money with advice! the 135w blackstar is ideal for a small cab grow! a little better than your average 90w. i also run20/4 that includes the fan! they like a couple of hours of no movement and dark. one thing i may disagree on (just a little):D is the use of cfl's, in my humble opinion they are the best for side lighting and under canopy growth! "the more light the better" cfl's can be positioned anywhere light is needed!
as long as the lights are positioned right, i think they add quite a bit to a grow!:2cents::peace:

Yeah if temps don't get to high use cfl too but LED as main overhead light.

Too true, led panels are alot cooler but still emit an (not sure if "suprising" is right word) amount of heat. Fan + fresh air = SHIBBY!

Thank you everyone! This is awesome news for me. Pending my housing arrangements I should be able to start my first grow within 2 or 3 weeks(ish).

The thought did cross my mind after reading guide after guide about putting some lower powered lights near the bottom, as I will be LST'ing they may as well get the most light possible down there. I will see how it goes with the LEDs to start off first. I think as I'm about to go into summer, I don't think fans off during that period will be the way to go, I will have to see how the temps hold up first.

Again thanks everyone, really appreciate it. I will be sure to let you guys know how my grow goes when it get's underway.

What a great start to a new forum.

Take care everyone! :smokebuds:

mr tang! you are so right i need all the heat i can get!! as i type _7 celcius our high temp today will be 6 or 7 deg. c i heat with woodstove my grow room is four rooms away, last year my nightime temps were 55 deg f so let me qualify what i said, the more light the better if you can control the heat!:D we can see outside temps in the dead of winter of 30 deg. below 0 celcius ahhh to be in warm sunny england!:buds:

Just planted three dinafem white widow auto's and using a Pro-grow 180 from hydroponics hut. I was teetering between the pro-grow and blackstar. What made my decision was when comparing actual watts. While the pro-grow 180 has an actual output of 160 watts, the Blackstar 180 and 240 are both less than this. This is my first grow, so I can't speak to the actual performance yet from an experience standpoint, but I'll keep everyone updated.

Its Arrived whoop
