just found the thread! where the f have i been? some good advice being spread around!:buds:i just bought another blackstar, number four. another 240w flowering model:dance:so now i have one tent with two 240w bs and the other tent with a blackstar chrome 270w and a bs 135w flowering.:booya:i am sold on the blackstar, because it works and it fits my budget! (poor) i am on fixed disability income, nearly went broke getting my blackstars! the chrome is a definetly a upgrade over the standard bs, but i talked with victor at gotham, got his best pric on the four spot chrome and on a 240w flowering model only had enough for the standard. now in one tent i am mixing chrome and standard blackstars, i run the 135w quite a bit closer, the plants are growing at a very good rate!!some of the prices on these led's are ridiculous, forget the true wattage of what these units produce, and pay closer attennsion to par level's and lumen's less wattage with properly tuned lens' can produce as much par and lumens as other higher wattage unit's. :D:2cents: i subbed up to the thread, i like it!:thread:btw i will alway's supplement my led's with cfl's in both tents i run three 150w equivelent bulb's and switch between vegging and flowering spectrum.:dance:this is a cheap way to boost your lumens and par.:smokebuds:

I just purchased my first Chrome. Not using it yet but plan to in the next month. Glad to hear you like yours.

Does anyone know what wavelength gives the plants such healthy stems ... all my LED plants are very sturdy ...

I'm in the market for a new light ... My plants like the Advanced LED lights that I have but I'm seriously considering a pair of Pro Grow 180s from Hydroponics Hut.

http://www.hydroponicshut.com/pro-grow-180-led-grow-light-hydroponics-hut.html

160 actual watts for $289 if I buy a pair is a good price per watt ... selective switch is a nice feature for the first week or two of a seedlings life ... supposed to be no shipping .... they have a lot of great videos of their lights in use .... I believe this light can be hung closer to the top of the canopy, a big plus in short spaces ... I don't like that they don't give more info on the spectrums but I think they'll supply the info if I ask them ... I believe they are designed to grow MJ and I have to think that by this time, quality LED manufacturers know which wavelengths work ...

I currently grow with Blackstar Chrome (4 spot model) and a california lightworks 200w solarflare, they seem to be doing just fine thou i usually throw in a cfl or two just to add to the spectrum. but when i do expand my grow area i'm always looking for my next lights and there are so many options out there now but, i see very few grows or first hand accounts of people who are using kessil or advance led (diamond series looks interesting) just wondering what you guys thought of these two companies.

If i ever scrape together the funds i think i'd follow in the very large and impressive footsteps of Dub and grab a 357+ but right now thats way out of my price range

Gday Guys

I just joined up on this site, stumbled across it when googling for auto flowering strains :D. Seems to be a lot of good info here, and a nice community that I've seen so far, congratulations everyone!

Now, I'm about to start my first grow in a few weeks, after researching for a good 1 to 2 months I think I'm just about ready. The only thing I'm stuck on is the lighting, LED is very intriguing to me, however I will only be growing in a modded PC case to start with, as it is only for personal use. Measurements of the case as taken from the website are 49.3cm x 20.6cm x 46.8cm, basically, I'm wondering if one of the Blackstar 135w LED UFOs would be a good choice for this scenario? I will be growing in organic soil from my local store for my first grow, and i think I will stick with this method in the future.. but we will see :help:. The strain I will be growing is Green House Green-o-matic and I will be using the LST method fairly early in the vegetative stage. I think this strain is suitable for the size of my case, but I am definitely open to suggestions should any of you have any.

Appreciate any input regarding the LEDs, as this is basically the last on my checklist.

Cheers and have a great day! :smokebuds:

Hi Guys, My Blackstar Chrome (4 spot model) should arrive one of these days, I order it two weeks ago. (Must be shipping from USA to Europe.) Is it necessary to supplement it with CFL. The whole idea for me the purchase LED is because of the spectrum. Would be bad if it is necessary, because if I would like to scale up for example with a 9 spot model than I have to scale up with the necessary CFL. Can somebody shed some "light" one this issue. Thank in advandce!

No need for your cfl at all dude although some will use blue cfl for the first week as the chrome is very powerfull, but if you have your chrome high enough (at least 3ft) u will be ok with seedlings. My lights have a similar intensity and I use mine from seed.
