I just asked that after I went back and looked... lol well get themNo Bud they are in the earth
and go merry Poppins on their asses.... 
That worked last year until my umbrella got destroyed. I am treating them like a 4H grower would. I will help them to a point and Mother nature does the rest. I have grown enough that my outlook has changed to that if something goes bad I have a large compost pile 
This is what happens when you don't harvest your artichokes in time, they were pretty so we didn't want to kill em.
