Loupe? Scope? Thingy on a phone?

I'm nearing the first grow and I've almost finished amassing the tools, soil, etc.
I don't want to get to flower (optimistic I know) and not have a way to judge trichomes.
Any recommendation for an affordable solution? I'm rapidly approaching my limit of funds...

I have this and it works fantastic, the more you zoom in the harder it is to get a steady picture. So either a steady hand or a cheap microphone holder

Also if this is what you decide on, make sure it is compatible with your phone. If it be iPhone or android, i just know that when I ordered mine it was for iphone and there was one for Android

I used this one Plugable usb digital microscope that I got off Amazon but it had to be connected to laptop or tablet. Took great quality pics.

Then to make it easier I just used my Samsung 9+ phone to take pics and zoom in on my phone to check the trichome. Now I've upgraded to the
Iphone 13 pro so will see how that does for taking pictures as it has macro capabilities when I get to the harvest stage once I get my grow going
again.

yeah Steady Hand is required . I took an old broom handle and duct tape the microscope Mount to it. Then I could use it like a tripod but with a single-point anywhere I walked in my garden. I was able to steady it that way. Because it's hard when you got a nervous issue with one of your hands. My primary hand, if I have a cup of coffee it adds to the shaking like a leaf.

For those of us who aren't steady doing anything anymore, much less using scopes while smoking a joint, ya learn to read plants without the scopes, lol...... There's an old thread somewhere on afn by 'muddy' with some great observations about it...
