I have found this Cob. Has a great price, but I see little reference to it here at AFN. Is there a reason? They seem like a good deal. There is a 36v and 51v version. The 51v version is a good 20 or 30% more efficient. Also, is there a driver calculator to be found anywhere? I have already started accumulating parts to build to Cob's. I have Chinese Cob's and drivers I've decided to let decorate my toolbox. What do I replace it with? CLU 048's or CXM 22'S? I would prefer to have them on individual drivers so I can dim them independently. Any advice?

Thanks all!

BTW, what about Mean Well LPC Drivers? They are available in smaller sizes.

@BigSm0 is the guru for all diy. I myself prefer the clu048 citis, ive got 3 1212's on an hlg 120h c1400b and I love it, doesnt get hot at all at full power. I'm thinking of getting clu048 1818's for a big light I have in mind. Either way I think citizen clu048 is a fantastic option at only a few bucks difference from the cxm's and about half as expensive as cree

I have heard they are a good chip as far as efficiency and cost goes. The thing I don’t like though is change. Efficiency and specs are good on paper. Till I actually grow with them I can’t say. Could be 100% efficient and cost $2 each but if it doesn’t grow well then it’s worthless to us. Not saying it is, but chasing efficiency is more expensive then growing than what you already own. Think about how many times the most popular cob has changed just in the past year. Swapping cobs everything someone says this is the new cob to beat would leave you with a pile of uselessness. Funny my buddy has done this same exact thing. 3 blurple lights, each new one was the best, then the 2530’s, 3070’s, 3590’s, 1212,1818, and now on to boards. This has all happened in the past year. Call him a moron but he is chasing those specs. Cost of lights is well over 10k and I bet there isn’t a 10% yield increase between the first cob and the latest light he is using.

This is more of a rant than any actual help. As far as the cxm goes I’d say give it a go if your already looking to upgrade. I’m just not sure on spectrum.

Thank you@BigSmO! You are the COB MASTER! I have noticed one cob seller offering them. But, I've also learned that doesn't mean jack! Especially these days! Everyone seems to be after growers money these days. You see what people are selling for grow lights lately! And at outrageous profit margins. I know that's part of the reason you got in the game (BigSmO).

99% of the reason. Nothing against the CXM22 as a good friend just mentioned them to me not to long ago and about their good efficiency number. I feel if they are as good as I have read they would be in a lot more grow rooms. I for one won’t risk a grow trying them. Also won’t sell them unless I decided to do a few grows with them first. Way to much in the pipeline to gamble on another cob.

Hey y'all! @BigSmO I plan on starting with two. I'll have to check RIU. Been comparing other chips to the CXM 22. Price wise, the Vero 22 is the winner. It's actually about a quarter cheaper. Add the fact that no holder or soldering required, it's cheaper and easier. As far as effeciency goes in on par with the 50v Cxm 22 (~150 lumens/watt). If I were to buy right now, I'd go with the Vero. But, I'm obviously not done researching. Gotta check out RIU. THANKS for the heads up.

BTW, just to clarify. I'm not chasing effeciency. I just wonna make sure I get the most banh for the buck.
