Lighting My first COB grow

Thanks Nugs. This has been a pretty nice grow. Another advantage of the cobs is that I have absolutely no heat issues that normally I would be dealing with this time of year. Pipes

Yeah, I find that running 3 AutoCobs seems to raise the room temp of whatever by about 5-7 degrees in my 3x3 tent

Well I took down my Sour Stompers yesterday at day 68. All of the plants grew taller under the cobs then the led plants grew but were a little stretchier. These plants were 28, 29, 32 inches tall from the top of the compost. I always break up the bud clusters into small buds to get more of an even cure so there is no extra stem weight shown in either grow. The cob grow came in at 736 grams wet weight as compared to 706 grams for the led grow using 240 watts for the cobs versus 570 watts for the led. Noticeable difference in the electric bill. I also honestly believe the quality of the cob buds is superior to the quality of the led buds. Yesterdays yield produced some very very sticky very strong smelling buds. I think this is some of the stickiest stuff that I have ever cleaned. Also the cobs performed flawlessly whereas keeping all 3 led panels going was a constant struggle. Very happy! Anyhow this grow is done and now on to some Sour Livers. Here's some pics:peace:Pipes. BTW the little runt that I've mentioned in earlier posts grew the biggest and produced the highest yield. Never give up on the runts!. Also there was no heat issues with the cobs.

Beautiful grow! :greenthumb: The power of the cobs, it's mighty! 42% of the watts of your led's with more weight and frostier flowers. :muahaha: Did you have your light at 20" when they were seedlings? I concur with your runt statement, I've seen them easily out produce their sisters.
:slap:
Good luck with your Livers! :vibe::vibes::vibe:

Hey thanks iampepe! I'm watching one of your grows. As far as the light height I was all over the place. If I remember correctly I started out at about 2 ft above but from there on I just kind of winged it. At about day 18-20-on both grows-the Sour Stompers go into a crazy fast growth rate which can be a little hard to keep up with. I really can't offer any advice on light height because I simply don't know. Right now I'm thinking higher is better than lower as I'm seeing light stress at heights with cobs that I wouldn't see with the led panels. Anyhow good luck with your grow. Pipes

I had mine at 36" I think it was and I let them grow into it. I have raised the light a few inches...

Love this grow, love your plants, love to hear about your yield. Still, most of all I love your mini write up of comparative weight (with a control) of COB vs regular LED. Gonna tag @BigSm0 for the fun too!

Real nice job man! You deserve a big 'ol...

Hey Thanks Nug and thanks for the slap. The cobs work really well and I especially like the reduction of heat over the other systems that I've used. Buds went into jars yesterday. Pipes

Agreed, the heat reduction alone while maintaining strong lighting is impressive. Combined with stronger penetration, less cost on electricity and longer life. You can't go wrong!
