Hell afn ! Long time lurker and past member . Somehow my old account got deleted so here's my new one. This will be my 3rd auto grow and am running 2 purple kush 2 blue cheese and 1 critical cheese all in 3 gallon smartpots. My lovely fiance let me upgrade my grow room from a small diy closet , so now its currently a 5x5x7 tent with 2 600w lights carbon filter and 6" inline. My plants are still baby's at 5 days old. I do have a few questions though I know 1200w is a good amount of light and was wondering if I should be using both light with only 5 plants and if that extra 600w is goung to make a huge difference in end product and yield. 2nd question is vegging lights. Right now I'm just running one 600w mh and a t5 4bulb mixed spectrum . Should I take out the t5 and run other 600 or just stick with this til sex shows amd flowering begins. Glad to be back and as grow progresses I will start a journal ! Happy growing afn.

i would def put in that second 600 W in flower...More light, more power, more bud :GoooAuto:
if you throw in those 600 w from seedlinggs be sure to keep a safe distance so you dont hurt them in their young stage :smokebuds:

Thanks. Yeah that why I was only running one of the 600s and the t5. The ballasts are dimmable too so I can always turn em down a bit if need be. Should be a fun grow . I'm only running a few plants this time to get the room dialed in. Plan on a lot bigger things soon !

I agree with the other fellas, if you're concerned about the two lights; one 600W would be find until they are up and running a bit. I'm saying this with a 1000W and two 400W HPS lights in my grow space (I stuck my seedlings under this light regiment after germinating with CFL's.) Just keep the lights a bit higher initially and watch your babies like a hawk to make sure they don't start over-stretching towards it. Once you're comfortable with how far along they are; I'd throw the second light in there.
As a general rule of thumb, I personally try to keep at least 50 watts per square foot in my grow space. If you have a 5 x 5 floor space, that's 25 square feet. 600 divided by 25 is 24. Double your light, 48 watts per square foot. You'll also have more equal light dispersion and better penetration around the edges of the tent. Obviously there's far more to it than just watts per square foot, but it's a variable to think about
