Hi everybody, I’ve been a lurker here for a few months now. I’m a rookie grower from BC, Canada on my second grow, or what I’m going to consider my first proper grow. Long story short I jumped in head first on my first grow and didn’t buy good quality seeds, didn’t have the proper equipment for a large portion of the vegetative phase, etc. but I quickly fell in love with growing and realized it’s so much more than just a way to save money on my ganja and I’ve really taken it on as a hobby. My first yield ended up being 3.7 oz from 3 plants grown in 5gal plastic pots with soil from the hardware store and Advanced Nutrients ph perfect trio. Given the circumstances I’m happy with that number but I’m looking forward to seeing how far I can push the plants this time around.

All that is to say I’m much more prepared this time and I’ve started off my new grow of two seeds from Mephisto, one El Chemi Kiwi and one Marley’s Grin, and they both popped yesterday, July 8th. I’m growing in a 36”x20” tent tucked inside my guest room closet. My medium is Promix HP (looking for advice/tips from someone who has used this before) and I planted in I believe 1.5 gallons with the intent of transplanting to a 3 or 5gal fabric pot. My lights, which desperately need upgrading, are two blurple things off Amazon, I’ll upgrade those as soon as I have the budget but the idea at the start was to be as cost effective as possible so everything I purchased is lower end (except my new Meph seeds!).

If you’re still reading at this point I appreciate you and I’m looking forward to posting updates on my new journey. Any and all advice is welcome!

Good luck :cheers: :pop::baked::growing:

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Some day 3 photos attached. Gave my girls their first feed yesterday - 1ml/L of the AN PH perfect trio and 2ml/L of AN voodoo juice. Just used a light misting so as not to overwater them. I will say I’m finding it harder to know when to water/feed in promix compared to soil. The promix is drying a lot quicker than I’m used to which will be nice when the plant is a bit more mature but as a seedling it’s a little daunting! Any advice from soilless medium growers?

Day 5 update - watered with a spray bottle about 150-200ml per plant with the same feed ratios as last update. First set of true leaves appear to be developing a little slower on the El Chemi Kiwi even though it had a 12hr head start on the Marley’s Grin. Happy with the progress so far, will probably wait a day or two before the next watering.

have fun,
if your blurple is worth 3,7 oz on the first grow, it'l reward you double or triple with some experience, fairly sure. Don't bash it soo bad, it'l work for some nice nuggs while you get into it. If the env fits, the light is just one thing, not "the" thing. I got still blurple from 2012...works.
Just be sure to check your plants regularly in plain light.
Good luck and a lot of fun

Cheers!

Thanks for checking out the journal and for the reassurance! It does the trick for now, you’re right. and since I’m only growing for myself and to share a little with friends I don’t need massive plants, I just like trying different strains. :)

Little update on day 8. Leaves seem a little sad or something, but maybe I’m just being paranoid. Gave them a little water and feed after these pics were taken. Pretty much been giving a light water and feed every other day, gonna slowly ramp up the amount of water starting early next week. Let me know if you see anything to be concerned about. I’m still not super confident with this promix, kinda wishing I just went with FFOF but experimenting is half the fun!

edit: looks like my pics uploaded out of order… not sure how to fix that but you can tell which is which from the plant tag anyway

Girls are chugging along on day 9. Forgive the blurple pics, I forgot to turn it off when I took them. Finally tracked down a sharpie for my better half to properly label the plant tags, I didn’t want to ruin them with my chicken scratch.

Can anyone offer advice on when I should start watering to runoff in Promix HP? I Gave them their first decent watering and feed this afternoon with no runoff. 325ish ml of water per plant with same nute ratios as last time. 1ml/L of AN micro, grow and bloom which I’ll double in week 3 and then 2ml/L of AN voodoo juice which I’ll continue using up until day 14 as it states on the bottle. I plan to leave them alone until at least Tuesday now, I’ve been hovering too much.

I just bought an inkbird humidity/temp controller and my temps are dialed but I’m having a hard time getting my humidity right. It’s usually sitting right around the 50% mark which I think is a little low for this stage. Doesn’t seem to be hurting them too much but I can’t help but feel it’s not optimal.
