Did the rounds yesterday evening, plants are all growing, no evidence of the slime brigade either which was nice. Reckon the dry spring really cut numbers back this year.
The Auto Ducks are thriving, they seem to be growing quite fast at the moment. Originally I was going to top them and try to root the tops, but I can't be arsed. I might bend the tops over to keep them low, or I might just leave them to do their thing, haven't decided yet. Seem to have two distinct phenos, slightly different growth patterns and leaf shapes.
Over in the jungle section of the polytunnel, I took four girls away to plant out: two Auto Bubbleicious, and two Frisian Duck fems. New residents are two Finnish Auto Blueberry regs. This is the jungle after the switch. Not so many Ducks now.
Didn't manage to go the Bramble plot earlier, so it's been a fortnight. The good thing about this time of year is it's light until 10pm, so I can arrive, work and leave in the evening when there are not many people around the area nearby.
For the autos, instead of individual holes I dug a short trench through the Bokashi layer I put in there months ago. Planted one at either end, then backfilled. Rather than separate cages I brought a roll of chicken wire and made a big loop, with the roll still attached. The idea is I can expand this as I bring more autos to the plot. They can be spaced a bit closer together than photos and cages for each plant doesn't make much sense. They'll all go at this end of the plot, but I can keep some flexibility depending on numbers.
