Outdoor Crow's GG at 56ºN

Cannabis Seeds
Visited all the plants yesterday, so here's an update.

The Auto Ducks are definitely stretching a bit. Buds are chunking up nicely. I gave them some flower power to help the process.

In the polytunnel, the last of the first wave of autos are all flowering: Purple Moon Rocks, Super Kush and double headed Skywalker (Zaphod). So I took them away to be planted out at a GG plot.

Sadly the smallest and youngest Santa Marta auto seems to be on her way to death. The other four are all fine. The Supa Freak Show regs really need to go in the ground, but their plot isn't ready yet. The Freakshow autos are still small, but slowly getting bigger. I brought four more Sawney's Beans autos from the second wave to nestle among the peppers and marigolds.

Later on I went to the Bramble plot, to plant out the three flowering autos from the polytunnel.

The importance of airflow and late afternoon sunshine became clear when I discovered rot on three autos, which were in late flower or close to finishing when the heavy rain hit last week. Both the small Finnish Auto Blueberry were badly affected. The shorter of the two had black mould all over the buds, nothing could be salvaged. The taller girl lost her main cola, but the lowers were unaffected. I chopped both, most ended up in the compost but the lowers came back to HQ. The shorter of the two Auto Bubblelicious was also badly affected by rot, the classic brown variety. I cut her main cola and threw it away, the lowers have been left to hopefully ripen.

I can imagine that all the autos got a good soaking, but the very small ones were overshadowed by neighbours, such as the absolutely huge Auto Mazar. Similarly the shorter Auto Bubbleicious was overshadowed by the Auto Mazar, and a six foot plus White Widow Duck photoperiod to the west. So presumably these three plants did not get enough breeze and direct sun to dry their buds after getting wet. The taller Auto Bubblelicious, Super Kush Auto are unaffected for now, the rest of the autos are still in early flower so less susceptible to rot.

In hindsight, I should have chopped the Finnish Blueberry last visit, and perhaps I should have left more space between these earlier plant outs. Once the two Auto Bubblelicious have been harvested (possibly next visit) I'll leave their planting holes fallow, as the tall plants to the west are only going to get bigger, blocking out more light in the afternoon and early evening. They also block most of the prevailing wind.

Here's a photo round up of the other autos, all doing fine just now. Apologies if some are a bit out of focus, I had. a lot to do and it was getting late...

I expanded the mega-cage and planted the three new autos. They all got some flower power, and I gave a small drink to every plant on the plot too. By this point the sun had set and it was getting dark, so I headed off.

Headed to the Bramble plot on Saturday, been about a week since I was there. As there is rain forecast over the next few days, thought I'd check on the autos to see if any were ready to chop.

A few girls are nearly ready. I noticed a couple of spots of rot on the bigger Auto Bubblelicious, so I took the uppers from that girl and removed rot to dispose of in the compost. I chopped the smaller girl's lowers too as they were ready. With this bit of harvesting done, I think airflow should be better now.

Here's the autos before I chopped the Bubblelicious.

Got the Bubblelicious drying in paper bags now, my god they really stink! A more cheesy aroma than I remember, maybe different pheno from last time, or different expression as it's outdoors rather than the polytunnel. Very sticky buds too. Looking forward to trying some in due course...

Went to the polytunnel yesterday, checked on the plants, watered where needed. The remaining autos are doing fine, steady growth from the Santa Marta and the @Sawney_bean second wave. Some of them need potting up, but didn't have time, so it will have to be next visit.

The Freakshow Autos are doing well, they seem to be enjoying life in the polytunnel and their bigger pots.

Over by the apple tree, the Auto Ducks are thriving despite the recent gale force winds. Only a few more weeks to go for these girls. One has fan leaves that are starting to fade a little. I gave them a drink of water, might give them some flower power next visit, and maybe do some light defoliation.

Did some light defoliation of the Auto Ducks this evening, removing faded or damaged sun leaves. The girl at the front had quite a few fading leaves, and her main cola has more brown pistils than the others. Maybe as she's at the front, she gets more sun for longer. Anyway, I reckon she'll be the first to give up her main cola. I'll monitor for ripeness and hopefully the weather will allow a well cooked harvest when it comes...

Potted up the smallest Freakshow auto. Then I took four photoperiod plants away to a GG plot. Their removal allowed some reorganising of the jungle section, I moved the Santa Marta and @Sawney_bean autos there, leaving just the newly repotted plants nestled by the pepper plants.

Gave everything a drink, including the two Freakshow autos in big pots.

Was supposed to go to the Bramble plot today to plant out the Santa Marta autos, but ran out of time.

One reason for that was the Auto Ducks. The girl at the front looked ready to chop. I checked her over with a magnifying glass, and her main cola and side branch buds were pretty well cooked. Only the very lowest buds not ready. Maybe a slightly faster pheno, but shorter than the other two as well. I suppose I could have let her go longer, but these girls are 95 days old, and I decided to chop the front girl. Left the lowers to ripen a bit more.

The two taller girls at the back need longer, still pushing out some white pistils. They'll now get more sunshine with the smaller girl out of the way. We have hot, dry, sunny weather forecast for next week, which should be ideal to cook those buds some more.

Did a bit of light defoliation, again removing faded or damaged sun leaves. The harvested buds went into paper bags.

Here are the girls before harvest

The buds absolutely honk, definitely White Widow coming through. Pleased I managed to get some properly ripe buds off her.
