Hi There.
I also have a grow journal for the Auto version, completed a while back
My method for curing and making oil has changed a bit. For the non-auto grow journal, I dried the the buds on their stems hanging in my tent for one week then jar cured them for 3 weeks, opening the jars once per day to let some fresh air in. Then using a cheap coffee grinder I processed 10 grams. I decarbed that in an oven. Forget that details of time and temp, but it's probably in my journal somewhere. After that I dumped the decarbed stuff into a slow cooker with 2 cups (500ml) of liquid coconut oil. I let it cook on the lowest setting for about 6 hours. I let if cool off for an hour then strained through cheese cloth into a mixing bowl. Then I poured that into mason jar. That process worked well except for the smell that overcame our house lol.
For the auto version I ground up 14 grams (wanted it a bit stronger) and skipped the decarb process. Somewhere I read that decarb will happen in my next steps which is also different. I put the ground bud and 1/2 cup of liquid coconut oil into a mason jar. Then put the jar into the slow cooker which had was up to the same level as the oil in the jar. I ran that on the lowest temp for the same duration I think, however with oven mitts, I 'burped' the jar every hour to release any pressure. Turns out there was a little pressure each time, so that was good. Same straining process, separate the oil from the ground bud. Btw. after straining the cheese cloth + bud make one hell of a tea bag. Threw mine in the freezer and using it when I notice it. Decarbing in the jar seemed to work, as the oil same strength as last time. No house smell either.
[Edit:] Forgot to mention, I decided to try water curing for this Auto. Worked well. Nearly no smell when smoking which works for me in my situation. I wrote about that that in my grow journal.
My auto grow should be in a signature link below.
The Dinamed Auto strain seems to be the simplest way to make your own CBD...I love it! Now I'm just waiting for an auto version of the Blue Dream CDB; then I'm all set :smoking:
