Day 55 with pics
  • Well, still trucking. 24C's may be entering the home stretch, CQ still piling on the bud, maybe finished stretching higher.

Here are the three girls on day 55:

A few pics of CQ, really starting to pile on the bud:

And last and slightly least, the smaller 24C:

    PC240009.JPG

    PC240007.JPG

The larger 24C is putting on a bit of color. I am back on 24hrs of light and fairly consistent temps, so she may not color up a whole lot more. We shall see. I tried backing the light off to 20/4, but did not like the temps/RH that occurred during lights out, so I snuffed that idea. Still a bit of nute/light mischief going on, but the buds are stacking regardless, so I am done chasing it.

Happy growing, Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings, and/or Merry Christmas all, whatever cures your bud.

    Day 66
  • Well here we are on Day 66, and it looks as though I may close out this grow without quite killing them after all. I am closing in on chop day for the 24C's, but not there yet. The Mephisto specs suggest as little as 65 days, but still too many clear and not enough amber for me. CQ is still fattening up, it will be nice to see how far she goes in that department.

    The three girls:

    Ditto for the smaller 24C:

I would say that the 24C's are a week or less from chop, the CQ maybe as much as a week behind, roughly a week or so more than the periods stated by Mephisto. OTOH, I want that amber, so Mephisto could be considered pretty close to the mark.

The structure of the 24C colas, at least the top sections of them are leafy - perhaps nutes, perhaps light screwups. However, there is serious bud almost to the dirt, so it will be interesting to see how yield sorts out.

The jury is not in on structure of the CQ yet, but I think it is looking not bad. Unless ripening happens very quickly, it should put on some more bulk yet.

Happy growing all, and thanks for checking in. As always, comments are welcome.

Day 74 with a bit o' bud porn.
  • Here they are at day 74. 24c's are rated for 60-65 days by Mephisto, but my girls are behind - I think getting close, but not there quite yet. I gave them a haircut yesterday to get rid of leaves that were going yellow and shading other greener stuff. The CQ may not be quite so far behind at this point but it has a ways to go still, so the jury is out.

Comments on ripeness welcome - hey @Waira, what do you think about how close to harvest. I read your comments about not going too late with Autos.

    Happy growing all.

    Day 84 update
  • Here we are at Day 84 after partial chop of the CQ on Day 82, and partial chop of one of the 24C's on Day 83. Both the early chops had excessive clear trichs, and very little amber on the calyxes, so I elected to hold off for a while on the remainder of the harvest. With luck, I will end up with some early and some late chop, which works for me.

Here are the 3 girls on Day 84, the center 24c has had the 4 highest colas removed, and the CQ has had a mitt full of higher colas removed.

The larger 24c, not yet chopped:

    24C #2, after 4 largest colas chopped:

Finally, the CQ after a bunch of colas chopped:

And, before I sign off, the results of the first partial chops. The colas front and right are from the 24C, the ones in the back are from the CQ. There is a ruler in there for scale:

I'm seeing a bit more amber all round, and a bit less clear. Chop day may re-start tomorrow, at least on the most advanced plant. I'll sleep on it.

Speaking of the chop, I gotta say that trimming the 24C colas was a flyshit out of pepper with sticky boxing gloves sorta thing. Leafy don't cover it. Heavy and dense, but the number of leaves... Perhaps I just don't understand how many really need to be removed.

    Happy growing all.

    Semi final update
  • Well, the last portion of the ladies was chopped four days ago, the initial drying of everything is complete, and the curing well underway. Once the curing gets everything down to ~62%, I will do a final update with dry yield (now looking like roughly 300g total for the three plants), and some dried bud pics.

In the meantime, I have posted a review of the autopot performance on this grow. It is linked in my signature.

    Happy growing all.

Done and Dusted - final grow results
  • Well, the bud is all down to 62% in the jars, or at least close enough for me, so here are the final results. The CQ came in at 161 grams, the two 24C's at 145 grams, for a total of 306g or 10.9 oz total for the grow. I didn't weigh the trim, but it likely went another 100g or so.
I might have averaged something like 300 watts or so for the grow, so roughly 1g/watt in spite of my screwups with nutes and light. I'll do better next time.

    Pics of results below.

The 8 jars, CQ on top, 24C on the bottom:

The weigh in: (absent the final 70 g batch of 24C - forgot to click the photo before re-jarring)

    2 batches of CQ:

    1 batch of 24C:

I have tried both already. The cure is a fair way from done yet, but I rate both as excellent - the 24C is the best bedtime vape I have found, and is already smoother than anything I have tried yet. Ditto for the CQ, only more of a daytime strain. All in all, I am pleased with this result given my inexperience. The errors were all mine, the recoveries I managed only with the generous help available here.

Happy growing all, and thanks to the generous peeps who helped me out. :thanks::cheers:
