Lighting LED only thread (the manual)

No way mine are off 1am till 5 am too lol great minds think alike. I'm trying 24/0 light until they show sex in my small tent,I think it was HereB4 said Dragons like it.

I have a small veg tent that I germ in with 4 x 2' T-5's in it that I have on 24 but I usually take them out about 5 days after they pop and put them under my leds on 20/4. My veg tent is tiny 30"x18"x36".... I'd like to get a small led to put in there but light height is an issue. Anybody know of an led that'll work for me? Something that I can get close to the canopy with in early veg that won't fry my lil baby's?

I'm not a fan of UFO LEDs mate, but for that little veg space one would be nice, say a 50-90w one or something like that.:smokebuds:

To big.... I think my tent is going to be to small for anything other then the T-5's. No biggie, they work just fine. Just wanted 100% led. I did a side by side while germing. I put one plant under the leds and one under the T-5's @ 5 days old you could tell a big difference between the two. Of course the led was ahead :D. But I will say, after I moved everybody under the leds @ 10 days you could barely notice a difference between any of them. They had all caught up.

Thanks for looking out Jt :smokebuds:

How are the temps in the garage mate? If it gets really cold in there at night you could keep the lights on,and have the off period in the day when its a little warmer :toke:

The garage door is insulated but obviously the coldest room in the house, with winter here I think your right mate, i, ll go for 10am till 2pm darkness, at least ill be at work at those times and not tempted to look

I'm a new member but not new to AFN. There are some amazing growers on here and the attitude is great!
I'm a LED grower I have a 270w custom built thingy and its pretty amazing, I can't remember the exact wavelenghths of the LEDs but I remember adding more bloom (red) to it with IR and UV bulbs thrown in.

This is my 3rd grow but first in hydroponics, and I gotta say I'll never go back to dirt under my finger nails!

I'm growing OG Kush at the moment and I'm just starting week 5 of flower.

Hi fellow members of the almighty AFN

just had a few general questions

1. what do you think is the best medium for LED - in terms of yield and quality? (hydro? Soil? Coco?) and why :) (plz)
2. an earlier post said that a 90w ufo covers roughly 1 sq. ft. - would a blackstar 135w ufo cover the same or more?
3. has anybody heard or read anything about the new Lumigrow Pro Series 650?

:howdy:

1. What medium to use is so subjective. I use straight perlite. I don't know that you should use it. I don't know that it is the best. Seymour-buds uses his DWC setup that creates a forest. There are plenty of soil growers that get great results as well. I like the perlite for me. It works, and for how I grow and my space available, I'm not planning on changing for the near future. The variables are too many. I've seen a lot of people recommend soil for newer growers. I think that suggestion is spot on.
2. For a 2x2 space, a 240W is perfect, so I'm thinking 135 would work for 1 sq ft or something around that size.
3. I haven't heard much about that specific one. It seems like new LED grow lights are coming out left and right. I'm sticking with what I've seen others use and base my ideas around their experiences. I don't get all excited by ad campaigns or anything like that. The fun thing about going through journals is actually getting to see how something works. It's not just a review.

Hay buddy comments above are all valid but I will add my 2 cents.
1. LEDs will work perfect with all these medium, soil will prob yield the least but IMO it would be the tastiest. I've seen some great DWC grows but you need to be really dialled in to hit the big numbers same goes for coco.
2. I would say that BS UFO is less watt that stated as BS only say max power draw,I would guess its more like 90w so will cover the same 1 square ft area.
3. Just looked at that light and the specs seem great but as with any other light we won't recommend it untill we have seen a member grow with one.

Hope this helps bro.
