Welcome to my 1st organic grow! I kinda found orgics accidentally when watching a video. I had know of organic growing, but I didn't know anything about it. While watching more, and more videos things started to add up. Everything we do as growers is trying to mimic nature. I had been doing everything to mimic it accept my medium. Using synthetic nutrients is fine I've seen some amazing plants on here Using it. I have gotten some beautiful ones myself, but I feels synthetic are more for quantity not quality. Also I have grown tired of mixing copious amounts of nutrients. I want something simple. So I have decided to try organic growing. I started a compost bin, but it's not ready yet. I saw a review of Nature's Living Soil on growweedeasy.com, and it seemed a good place to start. Here is the link.

I'm doing 2 autos in 5gal bags Mephisto HubbaBubba Haze & Atlas Froot by the Foot. Here is what I'll be using this grow.

    2'x4'x5' grow tent
    2 - 5gall Rain Science grow bags
    Mars Hydro SP 3000
    Nature's Living Soil (Autoflower)
    Pro mix HP
    FFOF
    R/O water

There are a few ways to use NLS I went with the super soil technique. I filled 1/3 of the bags with Pro mix then mixed in 1lb of NLS. I then added a layer of FFOF. Next I cut up a 2 liter pop bottle, and placed it in the middle of the bag. I filled around the outside of the bottle with 50/50 of Pro mix & FFOF.

    20230501_231702.jpg

Finally I filled in the bottle with Pro mix then removed it. This will allow them to grow, and move through stages of nutrient levels. 1 of the biggest issues I hear growers new to organics is over/under watering. I looked into some Irrometers, but cheapest I saw was like $80. I looked around, and grabbed a couple of these.

    20230507_222923.jpg

I know you're saying those are cheap, and yep they are. Apparently even tho they're cheap they're accurate too. The moisture & light intensity are trustworthy, but the pH isn't so much. I just want something that will give me a ballpark so I don't get too dry, or too moist.

They both broke dirt on May 5th, here they are on day 3.

I plan to top them, but I will see how they do before I make the final decision. Until the next update...

    Topping & Training
  • We are back with an update as we creep towards flower. Just don't know what's up with the HubbaBubba Haze. I have a good bit of stuff today, but 1st things 1st... It's time to get lifted! Dabbing on Malawi with Blue Dream chaser. :lildab::lildab::lildab:

I made some more bho from the Malawi this morning so little lategetting this done. Today is day 28 yesterday I topped the FbtF.

I also added my little humidifier it was getting a little dry. I also ordered a 5lbs bag of girl flower power from NLS. I got 15% off buying directly from them plus free shipping.

    20230531_144457.jpg

Now that I got this i can use NLS, or BuildASoil. From what I heard BuildASoil needs a flower top dress/tea. Whereas NLS is a seed to harvest with the GFP helping increase yield & terpenes. I guess we're gonna see. The FbtF is going strong, but the HBH is just so small. It has these same # of nodes look OK just tiny, like a miniature. I think it's the seed. She was a little slower not as big, but still OK size tail. They got the same everything so just has to be the seed. Itsthe only difference. It's a sativa so may be a little more sensitive. Is what it is tho do what I can. Here they are I have a bunch.

I also started to train with these trainers. This is the 1st time I've used these, and I like them. I got a bag of 30 for like $8 on Amazon a few months ago. With these I may not need the grommets anymore. I did some supercropping as well. All of this was on the FbtF. The FbtF has been giving off a very skunky scent. I think that's a out it for now. Till next time...

    Late veg
  • Hey everybody, got an update that's not great news. Getting close to flower got to figure when to add GFP. Did some more training, but 1st things 1st... it's time to get lifted! :smokeout: Just dabbing on some Blue Dream this time :hookah:

Today is Day 33 so flower is coming. I normally veg them longer than most. I don't start vegging autos till day 35-42. It all depends on the plant tho. Once buds start to look like a cotton ball is when I would switch to bloom nutrients. Looks like I have a few more days at least till then. Since it's a top dress it will be a little slower if nothing changes I will put it on by day 42. That's nine days from now. The Hubba Haze has only grown a little more so may need to do a tea so she isn't sitting on the GFP. I don't want it to burn her.

OK, so what's the bad new? I broke a branch off of the FbtF. It was a lower branch so I guess it's better a lower branch. I tried taping it, but I got to it too late.

    20230606_102233.jpg

When I put the trainers on I went around, and crushed (Supercropped) each of them on the bends. To see how it would work.
    20230606_102229.png

They were all good, but this 1. As I recall I do remember 1 that seemed to break more than the others. For those who don't/haven't done supercropping there are 2 ways to do it. 1st is the most common way. When you roll the stem back & forth, and bend it over. Some need to do this for space. The 2nd way is to just squeeze it until it crushes slightly. Just enough to make it repair itself. Just like tearing you muscles down during a workout, the stem/branch will build back bigger stronger. This allows more nutrients to flow to your plant. I know most of you know this already, but some don't or a scared to do it. I do it a lot, I am kinda hard on them lol. :deadhorse: It was totally my fault I was rushing somewhat, and squeezed too hard. I also put a trainer on the topped node just to see what would happen. Didn't need to just curious what happens. It should spread the top out more, but we will see.

    20230606_102204.jpg

Here are the rest of the pics.

I absolutely love these trainers they may make the grommets obsolete. These look like a good candidate to be made with a 3D printer. Something to think about, would be sweet to be able to make your own :eyebrows::eyebrows::eyebrows:. I also put some hydroton on as some mulch. I think that's all for now. So until next time...

    Training
  • Just threw trainers on the 2 big fan leaves.

    20230606_134551.jpg

Now the bottom branches are in full light without damaging the fan leaf.
    20230606_134557.jpg

I need to grab more of these. You could just use them to move fan leaves if nothing eles. So simple but so useful... it's like a spork lol.

    1st dose of GFP flower
  • OK, was getting ready to update so nothing to it but to do it. I have a bunch of pics also, but before that its about that time... it's time to get lifted. I'm dabbing on some old ass Bubblegum from Fast Buds. Super harsh, but high is still very nice.

Some of you may have saw me on live stoners with the FbtF. She had something wrong, I thought it may be a phosphorus issue. Someone I think @N/A-Greengo said nitrogen toxicity causing lockout of something. If it was somebody else sorry I was stoned lol :baked:

MOG said looks like nitrogen toxicity locking out potassium. So I was off a little they look similar, at least to me but I'm not good at seeing deficiencies. He said the pot dried out which it did. I noticed it was really dry, and next day is when I saw it.

    20230610_204640.jpg

I had been wondering if I had too much nitrogen. The leaves looked a little dark to me, so this wasn't a surprise. I have to take the blame on this unfortunately I think. I didn't follow NLS's directions 100%. I mixed FFOF with the pro mix which wasn't said to do. It said to use plain potting soil, or coco. I also gave them worm casting tea before they needed any. So i can see why there is too much nitrogen. This could have something to do with the Hubba Haze being so small. I know sativas are sensitive to nitrogen a lot of the time so... maybe???I did a lot of training actually broke a huge fan leaf putting a trainer on it. Sucks but cost of doing business I suppose. Started to trim up the bottom of the FbtF, and cut some leaves away to open up the Hubba Haze. I don't have pics of that just did it and was without my camera. I just gave them their 1st dose of GFP tea. It's the end of day 40 into day 41 so it's time. The FbtF is gonna be a nice yielder. Did a ton on her, they can get a little ugly when you train a lot. Here are the pics I took, it's a lot.

  • I'm back with some updates. For those who've been tagging along thanks for stopping back, for the others welcome! I have a bunch of pics for you, but 1st it's about that time... it's time to get lifted! I hope you can join me in a quick sesh. I'm dabbing on some Malawi. I ran out of the bho so I tried something else. I made a tincture, and reclaimed the EC. Not as nice to look at, but a larger yield. I have a table top distiller so save some $$$ this way as well.

    :hookah:

Today is day 50. I got a small bag(2oz) of Recharge on Tuesday, and gave them some that night. It says better looking plants in 48hrs. I want to see if this was true. I took some pics right before I gave them some. I then took some pics 49 hrs later to compare. I did do slightly more training, and defoliation I just can't help my self. You do 1 and now that makes me need to do another spot, and another, and another, and another... It's a slippery slop for me. I really do have a problem stopping lol. It has turned out some large yielding autos for me, so I can't stop. I now have all 30 plastic trainers on the FbtF.

So... what do you think, do they look better? I'm gonna hold on my comments for now. I want to hear other thoughts 1st.

I also gave them each a TBSP of GFP top dress Thursday. The biggest challenge I've had so far is keeping the soil wet. This just reinforces my need for an autopot system. I have the money if I use 1 of my savings bonds. I still have a few I was saving for when I build a grow room. I figure this is part of the grow room so it counts lol. I have a 10% off code for autopots direct orders so that helps. That's all I got for now, till next time...

  • Welcome back everyone! I have an update, but before that I need to get lifted. Join along you like :pass:

We are getting close now... day 61 Atlas says 70-75 days on her, but think I may go past that. I kinda need to because I need to harvest them together. I dry in my tent for now so need to be together. I am about to pull the trigger on an Autopot system. Going to grab the 2 - 5 gallon fabric pot setup. I will use my new living soil bags, I'm assuming they will fit. These bags seem to be same size as my other bags. It's looking like I will be gone for 2-4 days in a few weeks, so I need it for then. I'm not a fan of leaving plants, but I may have to is what it is. I think I will turn the light off tho not comfortable with leaving it on. Something is not right with it. It dims and then gets bright again. It's subtle, but I notice it. Doesn't always do it when I'm in the tent either. So don't want to leave it with no one here to do anything if something happened. I have left it before, and I have never had any issue other than the slight dimming. So more than likely it would be fine, but... still... to be safe I will leave it off. They will get water which is more important. I have a led flashlight I can put in the tent to get them some light for a little bit. I'd say 6-12 hrs maybe I have no idea lol. I will sleep better not having to worry about it. It's only a few days, and will be at the end of the grow so should be good. I will turn it back on when I get home. I can't keep pot from drying out, but other than that going good. The FbtF is getting frosty hands are sticky after handling. HubbaBubba is starting to round into shape. Here is the FbtF.

  • Welcome back, thanks for stopping by! Big day today... today I finally got an autopot system. I wanted 1 of these for a long time now. I wasn't sure I could conceal the reservoir, but actually pretty inconspicuous lol. 1st things 1st I need to get lifted! If you're not high please join me before we begin. I'm finishing up on some buds that are well let's just say "aged" some is 2yrs old, some is almost 2.5yrs old, and the oldest almost 3yrs old. It's a little harsh, but still get me lifted.

    :hookah:

That's better. Now... where was I? Oh, yes autopots. 1st off these things are huge! All the bags I would use will fit my 10gal fabric pots I haven't used will even fit. About 15"-16" I'll have to measure when bag is out. Both plants are coming along. The FbtF has to be almost ready, but she will have to wait for her roommate. They smell Like weed. I got yelled at because the wife could smell it in our room, which is the furthest from my tent. The FbyF has a real skunk funk, sweet then skunk. The HubbaBubba Haze is even sweeter smelling. I could smell it, but I didn't think it was that strong. Here they are.

Pics aren't great fan was not cooperating. I had to put HubbaBubba Haze down water wasn't flowing good to it. What do you think, should I put hydroton in the gaps inbetween the bags & the sides? Are they getting too much water?

Now I just gotta keep the res filled, and pH'd. That's all I got for now so until next time...

    Harvest
  • Im back with an update... I'm done! Chop began Wednesday, and I finished up on Friday. Before I get into the details it's time to get lifted. If you're not already medicated for some reason join me. I'm dabbing on some tasty FbtF. It's so good I'm really happy with it.
    :hookah:

OK, before thanks @Green Hornet for the rep points! :thanks: I'll start with the final dry weight on the Froot by the Foot, it was 123g's. Thats just under 4.5 oz's not bad. It could have been a little more without my mistakes. It's pretty strong all the way around. Smell, taste, and high. I got yelled at because I didn't have fans on, was putting bud into groove bags. The house reeked of weed, like serious skunk. Not use to it smelling so strong. Now I know.

I sampled the HubbaBubba, and wow was it nice! Nice energetic high, but over consumption can lead to drowsiness. It tastes soooo good I keep dabbing it lol. The strangest thing is how much both these 2 tastes so similar. Like almost identical in taste. Both taste like pinesole/Murphy's oil soap smells, the HubbaBubba has a very lemony finish. Like if pinesole was lemon instead of pine. Both are like a sweet home cleaning product. Should be different right? Could it be the NLS, and or the GFP giving them both their taste? Well, whatever it is they taste amazing! Never had a grow when both tasted this good, or at all. I know it's a small sample (1 grow) but I think there may be something to this organic growing. Here are some pics of the HubbaBubba Haze.

I forgot this one from the FbtF. I was doing a pre trim, and this leaf I cut fell perfectly like it was meant to be there.

I should have a weight for the HubbaBubba Haze in a few days. Time to start the process for the next grow. I am planning to try the Craft blend next grow. I have 2 cultivars in mind both from Fast Buds Green Crack, and Lemon AK. I have done both before, but I also have Super Orange Haze. I will throw out some names and see if anyone has thoughts. It's getting late I think that's about all for now so until next time...
