Hi everybody. I’ve been stalking you guys for quite some time and I finally decided it was time I tried my hand at a auto grow. I have been constantly reading grow journals and tips and tricks and to be honest my head is hurting. So much to learn and so many contradictions. Anyway, I’m currently on day 9-10 and have been constantly stressing about everything. I just want it to work out haha. I’ll transfer the info from my journal onto here tomorrow for the first 10 days along with pictures and a proper rundown of everything going on. I was keeping my own little journal for myself but I figured if I put it up here I won’t get as laxed with it and will get the help of you wonderful people and ease my worries hahah. Goodnight folks. Sorry for my lateness. Didn’t have the time to do this before work properly and I wanted to be as thorough as I can be. So here it goes
Setup
280x140x280cm grow tent
2000w greenfingers led
300w China led (unsure of brand)
600w viparspectra par600 led
Current culture uc4xl system
Haliea 1/10 hp water chiller
4inch extraction with carbon filter
Hydroton
Rockwool
4 small clip fans
Humidifier/air cooler
Dehumidifier(for later on)
Current culture nutrients
220l water res (yet to instal)
Bluelab guardian monitor
Pretty sure that’s everything at the moment. Will be getting another viparspectra 600w and getting rid of the Chinese led. I know that I’ve gone all out with the equipment for a noob but I really wanted to eliminate as many variables as possible, so no hate please
What I did- Friday 9th Nov
I place four seeds in a cup of distilled water for about 6 hours. Gave them a little love tap and they sunk to the bottom. Poured them into paper towel and left in a dark warm place to do their thing. All four had taproots by the next day
Saturday 10th Nov
I soaked my rock wool in ph 5.5 water for a few hours and did the same with the hydroton. That night I drained off the rock wool and placed the seeds about 1/4 inch down. Filled my net pots with hydroton and put those bad girls in the system. Room temp was about 28c and water temp was 20c. Left all four fans going and the 2000w led hanging with both spectrum lights about 40-50cm from the ceiling. Nothing happened for a day or so and I freaked out cuz i remembered reading something about algae growing on damp rock wool exposed to the light. Went and covered everything in hydroton to ease my worries (won’t be doing that again) and had seedlings pop the next day. I think one may have pushed a clay ball when sprouting and caused some sort of mini avalanche on top of itself. Its looked pretty sad since and hasn’t grown at all
Fast forward to today, I’ve kept the seedlings on a 18/6 cycle and temps around 28-30 rh around 50-70% and water temp at 22( having issues with my chiller) also on their 6th day from sprouting I put in 1ml per L of cal mag and 0.25 ml of veg a and veg b per L and also chucked in UC roots at recommended dose. I was going off a chart that came with the current culture system for the feeding but think I may have got confused with growth stages. I did this because I did not see any growth and am using rain water with a ppm around 270. Ppm was 440 after nutrients. I was also giving them a light spray twice a day( I mean really light). I’m day 10 today and all is looking good. I’ve been treating the avalanche victim like a ginger step child and focusing my light on the other three as it looked like the end was inevitable but after a look last night it seems it has been spending its energy on healing itself. It has looked the same since sprouting and I was going to pull it but I couldn’t bring myself to. I’m glad I didn’t hahaha. I’ve just gotten home from work so I will take photos after a shower and what not. Please let me know if I’ve left anything out or there is anything you want to know. Photos below are of the sprouts on day 1 and 2 which was the 13th/14th.

Hey buddy nice set up. I'm a fellow hydro head. Anything you need to know just tag me and I'll get back when I'm on 
Couple things jumping out at me.
Firstly, keep the plant in just the rockwool for a few days till its rooted up.
Personally I go 2 weeks but just whenever there's a few roots poking through is good enough.
Reason being. You want the cubes like 30-40% wet. Too wet and the roots will drown, too dry and theyll fry. Keep it there and the roots will grow infinitely faster. They also just need water at this point. My taps run 48ppm and they can go on that for 6 days. Easiest way with best root development is in a humidity box of some sort. Mines cost 99p.
I seen you say you soaked them in ph water, did you rinse the shit out of em first? Gotta give em a good long rinse under slowish running water (so they dont fall apart) to get all the crap out. It's alkaline as fuck and stunts them if your unlucky. Last thing you need with autos.
Secondly that's a big tent. I'm too stoned to go hunting the lights down, I'll get sidetracked and go off on a tangent somewhere. ..
but you're probably a bit shy depending on what the green finger one is. Also cheap shit chinese blurples are alright. I use them amongst other things.
Really shit ones are brilliant for seedlings cos you can get em closer. Don't chuck it.
And lastly are you using sm90, hydroguard or something like that to keep the res clean? Some manage without it but it's really risky. Usually ends in root rot and masses of gunge.
I go for sm90. Only need 0.3ml/L so it goes pretty far like. Handy to use as a root booster for seedlings too
