The General Growbattle second leg start 1st May 2019.

A Battle code will be released by @Ripper 2 weeks prior to the Battle start date to be included in your germ photo

No entries will be accepted after the Battle start date..

Final pictures will include the full pot and plant. On the pot will be a 3x5 card or piece of paper with the growers name finish date and a specialized password that will be given by Ripper just prior to the grower taking final pictures.

Growers may grow however many plants they want but must choose their competition plant at the 30 day mark of the competition.

Bubba Kush was sad and dampening a little after not knowing if General Battle was on?

After knowing she belongs to a battle now, she is bucking up! Granted, she has lost a few days of growth and has not shaken off the purple stem as of now, things do look good. At day 8, she is considered pretty small but I like her resilience!

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 12. Had a very rough start. Purple stemmed and slow growth. Must have lost about a weeks growth but bouncing back good. She has too little leaf to grow like the rest but she is really trying. About a week in and just starting to shake off the purple stem. Due to the early difficulties, her shape and structure are a little different from usual seedlings.

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 32. Had a rough start so lets see what she is made of? Growing big leaves and a nice shade. Not easy to train at all. Each budsite or cola produces big fan leaves that blocks all lights. I defoliated a little less than a day ago and she looks like this already.

I worked on her a bit earlier on as she is starting to stretch! Now she looks like this

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 37. Still stretching and is slower to flower than other girls. The stunting during seedling don't seem to bother her much now. She is very bushy and a nightmare to train. Broke a few colas already.

Each budsite is accompanied with elephant ears for leaves. I had to defoliate her very heavily. Not sure what to expect from her moving forward but will do my best to train.

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 46. Still not done stretching although starting to throw out more pistils white hairs. She is gonna be big! My concerns of her during seedling has gone. Now, I just want her to start flowering, stop stretching. A pain to train with her super large leaves. I trim her like i never have any plant. Almost bald....lol

General Battle GOTY Update Week 7 - @archie gemmill

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 53. Slowest of all to flower but getting there. I am intrigued by her jade green with slight blue tone fan leaves. However, you wont see too many as I've defoliated her very heavily. You cannot imagine the leaves i removed. She still looks bushy!

Last week, in my haste to speed her flowering up, I fed her the same high PK feed that i fed to other more advanced flowering plants. I burned her bad. Removed most of the burnt leaves. Still looks bad in close range. Few days back, fed molasses with EM1 and 4. No more progression of burns. Should be good from here on.

This plant overwhlemed me with her sudden burst of growth. Did my best to train. Not especially satisfied but nothing to complain about really. Should be good from here on...I hope.

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 60. Fed her PK nutes after 2 feeds of molasses and bacteria. Burnt her bad last two weeks. Responding well so far. Thinking of another light feed as insurance. Can't afford to mess her up even more. Bushy as hell. I already removed all fan leaves and plenty of other small leaves. Never removed so much from a plant and she is still bushy!

Again, Week 9 update posted but is lost. HSO Bubba Kush at Day 74 and just beginning to form nuggets. Very slow compared to all others this round.

Very bushy. Too bushy if you ask me. Sensitive to nutes, PH and erratic CalMag needs. Perhaps I got started with her off the wrong foot. Still looks like she is gonna give lots of buds but don't have a good feel of this plant. Does not look like she will finish before Day 90.

General Battle GOTY Update Week 11 - @archie gemmill

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 81. Flowering very hard but still very slow considering her age. Big and bushy. Don't like my heat. Super leafy buds. Very different from the other Bubba Kush I see others grow. Been fighting between deficiencies and nute burns. Looks like she might make some good buds but is most likely gonna struggle during late flower due to humidity.

Best case scenario…I get to finish her proper. Most likely, she gonna have too many leaves on buds dying due to heat and high humidity, which will lead to rot. May be forced to harvest early but praying hard for best scenario.

General Battle GOTY Update Week 12- @archie gemmill

HSO Bubba Kush at Day 88. Does not look like she will be done before 100 days. At least 2 more weeks from the looks of it.

She is very sensitive to heat, humidity and nutes. Its no surprise that my environment is not conducive for Kushes. I suspect her transpiration is being affected and she is just in stress mode all the time. A lot of small localized deficiency looking like Ca Mg def and K overload. Yellow with some rust and burnt/ twisted looking spots on selected leaves. Gonna just give her some light feed till harvest time. She is due for my Overdrive clone feed anyways. Gonna just feed that with a touch of CalMag till chop day.

Looks aside, she is making some fattest buds of the season here! Oiliest buds worthy of her famed reputation. Just gotta ride her out and hope for some good buds. Bud rot you cruel bitch please stay away from them jewels!

Next up in a couple days will be her final pic and I'd have completed my 6 battle/ grow off that I set out to complete, in order to get bumped to Tier 3! So happy I did it! Well, about to anyways!

They don’t seem as far along as some of the other plants here either, a reflection I think of my tent too crowded and the light spread too thin. All my Round 1 girls come down this week so things should turn around. All the same age and topped at the 4th or 5th node.

Dinafem Ocean Grown Cookies at day 45:

Left the plants to their own devices for 10 days, no reservoir topoff and no pH checks or adjustments. Unbelievably, this one thrived. Probably should have flipped her before I left, she’s going to be a real bear height wise in flower.

This post will be my Dinafem update as well.

Here is the plant that was not chosen, my Dinafem Blueberry Cookie, also at day 45. She struggled since early on, and the wild pH did her in. I will plant another in the third round.

Day 90 for my Dinafem Ocean Grown Cookie, day 45 of flower. She has put on a lot of bulk on her buds, but she will still go a few more weeks. She looks claw-y all of a sudden. I’m going to back off on her Megacrop. Everything else is in line.

But Hey Ho..... 3 seeds dropped into Ph'd water today.

Environment for this battle/growoff will be....

• Shared Tent:- 2.4mt x 1.2mt x 2mt (Green Qube 1224)
• 8 x 3500k - 55wt Auto Cobs (@BigSm0 - Cobshop) with reflectors, & 600w Mars Hydro LED (old style) as needed.
• Autopot system, Dual Grow & Bloom Res
• Ferro Nutrients (Regional Adjusted), Charge, Plant Magic Mycorrhizae, Mammoth P
• Canna Terra Pro Soil, Clay Pebbles, Additional Perlite

Germed in shot glass, will be potted into solo cups, and transplanted into Final Autopots when ready

Germination Update

We now have a successful germination, from the reserve seed sown 4 days ago. .

But it is still very early days, especially as she needed a bit of help to shed her helmet.

But I will offer her all the assistance I can, and hope she grows past it.

She just been relieved of her stuck helmet in this photo.

Update

I am:- (A) a stoner who is currently high, (B) Old and easily Confused, (C) Forgetful.

Not sure what goes here and what shouldn't, so I have included both strains I am growing in this leg.

Shoot me if I am wrong, but for the reasons mentioned in A, B & C.... I am tagging these members.

First up....

.Plant 1 has been in soil for 17 Days and is ready to be potted into her final home.

To date, all (3) seedlings have been getting plain Ph'd water. Under a single 55w AutoCob, in my propagator.

That equates to 18.33w per plant

I will be potting all my seedlings into Autopots with Airdomes.

I have decided that clear starter pots are the way to go, you can see the root development and have a better indication of when to transplant

Here is the 17 day old "Dedoverde Haze Auto's Roots", I am getting her ready for the move.

The backup seed is also doing OK. I will be growing both out (fingers crossed), with the help of the Canna Gods.

She is 5 Days behind plant 1, but will soon make that up when she goes in the tent and gets a dedicated light.

The second strain I am growing....

My replacement Short Stuff - "Auto Star Dawg" seedling, as noted in the previous posts - the first seed failed germination.

Still residing in my propagator at present, another few days before being transplanted to an Autopot

She had a stuck helmet, but with luck she will pull through and develop when she hits the tent.

That's it.

Today all 3 seedlings were potted up to their final homes.

Each seeding now has it's own 55w Autocob currently running Lights 24hr on, but this will change as we progress

All doing well.

All 3 plants are now feeding from the bottle... The Autopots are starting to do their thing !

Lights raised to keep optimum distance from each plant. I love the AutoCobs @BigSm0

From today the girls went onto a 20/4 Light cycle.

Environment is holding well, although I had to add a humidifier to raise the RH a tad to my desired target.

Changes made:-
Increased each plant to 110w (2 x 55w Autocobs).
Due to a mini heatwave with high humidity, I Introduced into the tent:-
2 x Humidifiers, linked to day and night light settings.
1 x dehumidifier, to balance and achieve my Temp & Rh targets.
Upped Ferro Nutrients & Canna Magnesium (Via Reservoir/Autopots), now at 90% strength 5.8PH & 1.6Ec
Preformed some Leaf Tucking, while stoned.

And so....... reluctantly, on to my plant choice.

This is difficult, for different reasons, each has a characteristic trait from its ancestry, I can see good stuff developing more from each plant, different structures, etc.

But..... Selecting this..... with the aid of a pointy stick whilst wearing headphones & blindfolded....

Transitioned from Veg to Flower Nutrients, Full Ferro Nutrients & Canna Magnesium (Via Reservoir/Autopots), now at 5.8PH & 1.8Ec

Daily environment tuning needed to keep VPD on track.

Preformed some Leaf Tucking. Added some "predators" as a preventative measure against spider mites

All plants are developing well, but I like this plant.... lots of bud sites, good colour, no problems....

Update Week 7

Not a lot, as I have been away and the 3 plants in the tent have been left to their own devices and on "Auto Pilot" for 3 days.

Autopots took care of that without a blip, but my dehumidifier stopped draining and filled the internal water tank and switched itself off. This caused lower than planned temps, higher Rh% resulting in a lower VPD.

Besides that, no worries... and they just shrugged it off.... all plants still developing well, plant 2 (my general battle plant) has lots of bud sites, good colour....

Still stretching a little, she now stands about 5ft 4" from top of soil to top of main cola, If she continues she will require a bend or two.

Due to problems with AFN and not able to upload, this update covers 2 weeks.

Constant adjustment of the Environment control as it has been hot here, Temps and Rh% have been hard to keep on point.

Had to break her neck twice as she was going to hit the top of the tent.

She is a big girl.

This is my H.S.O. General Battle Plant, Week 11, and what a plant she has turned out to be...


Chopped at Day 78.


The thing about growing Monsters is there is always a hell of a lot of trimming to do.

5ft 5" of very nice and very full plant.

Luckily, she was a lot easier to trim than some plants I have grown.

Leaf tugging worked well, and I have enough sticky "Finger Hash" for a few joints this evening... Bonus.

Here she is prior to 4Hrs of rough trimming.

I shall be drying her as a whole plant, upside down and very slow, and then a final trim when dry.

Buds are heavy, sticky and smelly, the stems needed support for the photos.

After 4 Hrs of rough trimming, she looks like this, a whole load of leaf taken off her.

I measured her from the top of the soil.....

.... to the top of the main cola.

I had to break her neck twice during the grow as she was getting to the top of my tent.

When the broken neck bends are accounted for, she measures 5ft 5" to the top, but I couldn't hold her straight and take the photo, hence the rule shows 5ft 2"

Buds are dense and hard, and there is a lot of it.

Some nice swelling has been going on this last week, I think plain water and "Mammoth P" has something to do with that.

And finally, here is a shot with the obligatory "Coke Can" for scale.... Empty.... I needed that after 4 Hrs of trimming.

I have been very impressed with the easy grow, no problems encountered, took feed well, no deficiencies or toxicity issues

Not a tip burn to be seen and she drank like an alcoholic on a bender.

The test bud smokes nice.... will be at least a month of cure before I complete a smoke report, but may post a "Drying" update inbetween.

Overall, I'm very happy and would grow again without hesitation.

Flipped coin heads for shorty, tails for tall and lanky. Coin came up tails. @archie gemmill my choice for general battle is the plant far right.
